Astronomovore

The location of this piece was inspired by an ancient temple in Jordan near the incredible carved sandstone city of Petra. The door to the structure is actually as tall as it appears to be in my rendering. It made me wonder what practical purpose such an entryway might have served… hence the massive reptile, entering, ironically enough, via the collapsed ceiling.

The Astronomovore: an ambush hunter who lurks in the shadows with his bioluminescent lures mimicking the stars, until a hapless astronomer sets up his telescope and presses his eye to the reticle… the last thing that stargazer sees is the sky falling!
