Diving into the dimensionality of the cumulonimbus strata (there are two pictured) and translucence of the thin wall of the breaking wave in this piece. I never thought I'd find so much fulfillment in painting devoid of human subjects. I know some regard sunset paintings as cliche and kitschy and quiche (yum) but from my heart, some of the most transcendent, beatific moments of my life have been watching the sky fading into twilight. I feel humbled by the impossible feat of trying to capture and convey even a fraction of this astounding beauty.
